Ban Assault Weapons

As a U.S. House Representative, I will advocate for a ban on assault weapons, understanding that this is a complex but necessary decision to enhance public safety, protect constitutional rights, and support community well-being. Assault weapons, designed for rapid fire and equipped with high-capacity magazines, are particularly lethal in mass shootings. By banning these weapons, we can reduce the severity and frequency of such tragic incidents, saving innocent lives and making our communities safer.

Supporting this ban aligns with my commitment to prioritizing the well-being of my Wyomingites.

Communities affected by gun violence endure long-lasting trauma, and addressing this issue is a critical step toward ensuring a safer environment for all. While the Second Amendment protects the right to bear arms, it also allows for reasonable regulations. Courts have upheld restrictions on certain firearms, recognizing the need to balance individual rights with public safety.

Many law enforcement agencies endorse stricter gun control measures, including bans on assault weapons, as they face the challenges of protecting our communities. By limiting the availability of these dangerous weapons, we can prevent them from falling into the wrong hands and reduce the risk of misuse. I am committed to responsible governance that reflects the needs and safety of the people I serve.
